Overton Park member night at Levitt Shell Saturday, 9/9!

It’s time to celebrate our park members! All current members of Overton Park are invited to join us on the deck at Levitt Shell on Saturday, September 9 for the Brian Owens & The Deacons of Soul concert. Memphis Made Brewing Co. and MEMPopS will be offering a free beer and popsicle to all our members, plus we’ll have free stainless steel Overton Park water bottles for Roots members and above. The party starts at 6:30 and the concert begins at 7:00. No need to RSVP; freebies are first-come, first-served.

It’s a small way of saying thanks for the amazing support you give us every day.

What does it mean to be a member of Overton Park?
Membership is an annual donation toward our core costs of running the park–whether that’s cleaning and stocking the restrooms, keeping the grass mowed, or maintaining the trails. In return, we offer benefits that increase with your level of support, including exclusive t-shirts starting at the $100 level, and invitations to special gatherings starting at the $240 level. The event at the Shell is open to members of every level.

Why is membership important?
Membership keeps the park maintained at the high level you’ve come to expect over the last five years.

We rely on these gifts to operate the park, which is especially important in 2017. Our community has been incredibly generous this year, contributing more than $1 million to take back the Greensward. However, none of those dollars will go toward the cost of operating the park–they’ll pass directly to the City to complete the Greensward project. That means that even if you gave to the Greensward campaign, we’re still asking you to become a member at some level, because our costs have continued to mount even as we met the fundraising goal for that project.

As of today, we’ve only raised about 33% of what we need to run Overton Park this year. That’s one-third of the year left for us to raise two-thirds of what the park needs.

How do I become a member?
It’s easy! Just fill out the form at the bottom of this page and choose your membership level. If you’d like to see all the benefits of each level, visit www.overtonpark.org/membership. (You can join on that page too!) Or you can become a member at the concert–we’ll be accepting cash, check, or credit cards.

Am I already a member?
We’ve sent e-mail invitations to all current members, as well as recently lapsed members, so check your inbox! If you didn’t receive an e-mail and still aren’t sure about your status, send an e-mail to mmcmasters @ overtonpark.org and we’ll check our records.

Many thanks to our friends at Levitt Shell for hosting us this evening!
