🥳The fence is coming down! 🥳 We`re so excited to announce that starting next Thursday afternoon, crews will begin removing the fence that has kept 17 acres of the park off-limits to the public for almost 40 years. The best part? There`s a new half-mile loop trail just waiting for you inside!
The new trail is a project of Overton Park Conservancy, @memphiszoo, and @citymemphis, funded by a grant secured by @repcohen. This section of forest was once slated to become exhibit space for the Zoo, and we`re so grateful to Matt Thompson and our partners at the Zoo for turning this land over to Conservancy management and reuniting it with the rest of the forest. We`ve been busy removing invasive plants over the last few weeks, and that work--as well as our efforts to plant more native oak trees--will continue for years to come.
We can`t wait for you to experience this "new" section of the Old Forest! To read more about the project, visit the link in our bio.

Be aware that the intersection of Poplar and Tucker will experience delays around noon to allow the parade to pass, and that traffic in Overton Park will be one-way throughout the festival to make sure all our guests are safe. We hope you`ll join us for this wonderful celebration presented by @brooksmuseum and @cazateatro_memphis! ...
