August 21 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm CDT

Join Conservancy staff on a walk while we discuss a specific ecological concept for the month. Walks scheduled for the third Thursday of each month August-November at 4pm. Registration will be open a week before each walk.
As Memphians, we find ourselves seeking relief from the sweltering heat with sno-cones and trips to the nearest pool during the dog days of summer. Have you ever wondered how our local wildlife copes with the spicy temperatures?
During the August Third Thursday Trek, we’ll delve into the science of thermoregulation and consider the key adaptations that enable animals and plants to survive the Memphis summer.
Whether you’re a nature enthusiast or simply looking to connect with your community, join us to learn how we collectively stay safe during the hottest months of the year!
Trek surfaces may include paved road, limestone gravel trail, and Old Forest natural trails with uneven surfaces.

Overton Park Conservancy is the nonprofit organization that has been caring for Memphis’s central green space since 2012. With the generous support of our community, we work each day to make the park a beautiful and welcoming place for all Memphians, as well as a valuable source of urban habitat for wildlife.
The Conservancy must raise roughly 85% of our budget each year from people like you who care about the many things Overton Park has to offer. A gift of any amount helps us maintain and improve the park.
