Homeschool Day – Playful Pottery

April 9 @ 10:00 am 1:00 pm CDT

Let’s get sculpting! April’s Homeschool Day invites students to explore the playful possibilities of pottery, inspired by the museum’s current exhibition of Memphis College of Art (MCA) works. Young artists will use model magic and clay tools to create their own imaginative vessels—learning basic sculpting techniques while exploring the artistic tradition of pottery in a hands-on way.

Whether it’s a whimsical bowl, a futuristic vase, or a fantastical cup, students will use creativity and tactile learning to build their own ceramic-inspired creation. This session connects directly to the MCA exhibition on view, making for a full-circle experience that blends gallery exploration with studio experimentation.

Homeschool Days at your art museum always include drop-in artmaking from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., docent-led tours at 10:30 a.m. and 1:15 p.m., and interactive gallery activities for all ages—a full day of creativity designed especially for homeschool families.

All materials are provided. Ideal for learners of all ages and artistic levels.

Join us April 10 to get inspired, get your hands messy, and discover the art of pottery—MCA style.
