Compound Leaf Tree Identification Course

May 12 @ 9:00 am 1:30 pm CDT

Compounding Confusion – Tree ID Class

Ready to turn compounding confusion into confident identification? While many trees in the Old Forest display simple leaves, a variety showcase compound leaves. Learning to tell them apart opens up a wider dimension of forest exploration.

The Overton Park Conservancy is hosting a Compound Leaves Tree Identification Course led by Certified Forester and ISA Certified Arborist Dr. Eric Bridges.

Through indoor instruction and outdoor field exploration in the historic Overton Park, you’ll practice identifying compound leaf trees such as ashes, hickories, and other common species in West Tennessee’s woodlands. You’ll also develop the skills to create your own keys. Beyond identification, you’ll discover how these trees play crucial ecological roles and have shaped the cultural landscape of our region.

Turn confusion into confidence and enroll today!

This course is designed for participants who have already completed our Tree Identification and/or Oak Identification Course or have familiarity with basic tree identification using botanical terms and dichotomous keys.

Registration includes lunch and the use of course materials.
