Super Saturday – Yarn Mandala
March 28 @ 10:00 am – 1:00 pm CDT
On March 28, explore color, culture, and creativity during Super Saturday: Yarn Mandalas—a hands-on activity inspired by the work of Suchitra Mattai, currently on view in the Rotunda. In celebration of Women’s History Month, young artists will create their own “God’s Eye”-style yarn mandalas using color-shifting yarn and dowel rods or popsicle sticks, echoing Mattai’s vibrant use of textiles to tell stories of identity and heritage.
This activity invites kids to experiment with pattern, texture, and symmetry, while learning about a contemporary female artist who reclaims traditional craft to make powerful visual statements. Each woven mandala becomes a personal expression of creativity and connection.
Ideal for ages 5–12. All materials provided.
Registration is required. Space is limited—reserve your spot today!
