A busy weekend in the park
There’s an awful lot going on in the park this weekend, and a number of these events will come with parking restrictions. Here’s your guide to what to do in the park this weekend:
Aaron Neville at Levitt Shell, Saturday at 6:00p.m.
Each year our friends at Levitt Shell put on more than 50 free concerts for the people of Memphis. To raise money for all these wonderful shows, they hold a fall fundraising concert each year. This year’s featured performer is R&B legend Aaron Neville, with special guest Kristina Train. Tickets to the event and the VIP pre-party at the Overton Park formal gardens are available here. The pre-party begins at 6:00p.m. and the concert starts at 7:30.
Parking restrictions: Veterans Plaza Drive around the Levitt Shell, as well as Clocktower Lane south of Memphis College of Art, will be unavailable for parking throughout the day Saturday to accommodate VIP parking for the Shell event and parking for a private event at Memphis College of Art. Cordoned-off areas are highlighted in the map below.
Zoo Boo, Friday – Sunday, 5:30p.m.
From hayrides to candy stations to straw mazes, you won’t want to miss the Memphis Zoo’s SPOOK-tacular Halloween event. Zoo Boo is fun for ghosts and goblins of all ages, and features tons of frighteningly fun activities. Zoo Boo begins at 5:30p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. Get tickets and information here.
Storywalk…or Cake Walk? – Sunday, 2:00p.m.
Have some cake and then walk it off as our East Parkway Storywalk celebrates National Read for the Record Day. Bring the kids to take a walk while reading the new story “Bunny Cakes” and enjoying a cake walk with our friends at Snowden PTO.
Park at the East Parkway Pavilion for this free event and have some fun at the playground when you’re finished with the story! More details here.
