A Day of Merrymaking = A Day of Art
If you love art–creating it, finding new pieces for yourself or a friend, or just immersing yourself in it–A Day of Merrymaking is full of opportunities to experience art.
Art to Create
This year, we’ve got two opportunities for kids and adults alike to collaborate on beautiful mural projects.
In one tent, Memphis College of Art students will have a large paint-by-numbers mural featuring the wildlife of the Old Forest. Once completed, Overton Park Conservancy will use the mural as a backdrop for our tent at community events. This mural is generously sponsored by our friends at Eclectic Eye.
At the Art Adventure tent, the team from The Art Project will invite guests to contribute to a 10-foot collaborative canvas. This is a freeform project, with paint, Sharpies, and other supplies generously donated by Art Center Memphis.
Art for Sale
Our artist market this year features work by painters, crafters, performers, and designers, as well as lots of jewelry and wearable art. Bring cash or credit cards! We’re thrilled to have Memphis College of Art’s Student Government Association at the festival, selling donated works by students whose proceeds will go toward school activities. In addition, you can walk right across the street from the Greensward, and several dozen MCA students and alumni will be offering their own work for sale, along with artistic demos, at MCA’s Art in the Park fair.
