Early 20th Century: Cubism, Dada, & The Harlem Renaissance

November 9, 2022 @ 12:30 pm - 1:30 pm

$20
Location:
Auditorium
Join us for our thirteenth art history lecture taught by Professor Rebecca Howard.

Lesson description: Western artists of the early 20th century will test the boundaries and standards of the art world. In this lecture, we will discuss new questions that artists and theorists are asking—most importantly, what is art and who gets to define it?  This lecture will consider how artists responded in emotional ways to World War I, and we will delve into the movement known as the Harlem Renaissance, which was defined entirely by Black artists.

Lectures will be taught in the education studio at the Brooks Museum of Art. Limited seating available
