$50K for 50 Years Giving Challenge
Overton Park has been at the center of the Memphis community for over a century. As we emerge from a year when the park was the only sanctuary available for many of us, it’s clearer than ever: Overton Park is indispensable.
That’s something the activists of Citizens to Preserve Overton Park knew 50 years ago, when they took their case all the way to the Supreme Court and secured a victory that spared the park from highway construction. This year, we’re celebrating the determination–past and present–that keeps Overton Park vibrant, welcoming, and inclusive.
We hope you’ll celebrate with us by investing in the park’s future.
A generous donor is challenging our community to match their commitment: Celebrate 50 years of CPOP v. Volpe by contributing $50,000 by May 31. This donor has contributed $50,000 to the Overton Park Sustainability Fund, an endowment that will help care for the park in perpetuity. Your gift toward this $50,000 challenge will be used to care for the park today, while the donor’s contribution ensures a bright tomorrow.
Your gift will go toward big-picture projects (like developing a comprehensive plan for the park) and day-to-day maintenance (like stocking and cleaning park restrooms, which will reopen soon following some plumbing repairs). When you see crews installing new safety surfacing on the playground or repairing storm-damaged trails, you’ll know your investment in the park is at work.
We can’t do it without you. And we’re just getting started. Make your contribution to our $50K for 50 Years challenge today.
P.S. Monthly donations are an easy way to make an impact all year long. As a thank-you, we’ll send all monthly donors a new Overton Park tote bag!
