There’s a Bird for Everyone!
Is your top ten movie list filled with romantic films? Keep an eye out for the Ruby-throated Hummingbirds and their elaborate courtship displays!
Do you enjoy a good laugh at comedy clubs? Listen for the chuckles of the White-breasted Nuthatch as it creeps up the side of a tree.
Are you singing along non-stop to the Wicked album? The Carolina Wren has a big voice packed into a compact size!
Whether your Life List is competitive or your favorite bird is one served by Colonel Sanders, you are invited to join us for Songbird Strolls! Twice a month, we’ll venture out to see what the birds are up to in the Old Forest. Experience lively avian antics, hear the magic of migration, and get to know your most charismatic Overton Park residents.
BYO binoculars or borrow ours! Participants are encouraged to download the free birding app Merlin. We prefer that dogs be left at home for this event; they can be disruptive to birds, and we’ll be looking and listening for subtle movements and sounds on this walk. (Dogs are welcome on our Wednesday Walks!)
Dates: Second Friday and Fourth Saturday: March – May. See our Events Calendar for exact dates/cancellations. Event is weather-dependent and will not be held when raining or high winds. (Birds are too smart to be out then.)
Time: 8AM
Location: Meet at the East Parkway Pavilion (389 E Parkway N)
Surfaces: Roads + Limestone Gravel Loop (Natural trails depending on group considerations)
