Art History 101: Medieval and Early Renaissance Art: From the Middle Ages to the 15th Century
September 26 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
In this talk, we will observe the cultural and political transformations of the Late Roman Empire into medieval Europe. The impact of new religious movements, particularly Christianity and Islam, will be seen in new visual styles in both the western and eastern regions of the former Roman Empire. In fifteenth-century Italy, the rebirth of “Renaissance” of classical culture will emerge in visual motifs and styles first adopted by artists in Florence, and soon spreading throughout western Europe.
