Completed Projects
Since our inception in December 2011, Overton Park Conservancy has been working make the park a place of warm welcome for all Memphians. Our completed capital projects include:
- The construction of Overton Bark, a 1.3-acre enclosed dog park
- The addition of permanent restrooms to Rainbow Lake Pavilion and East Parkway Pavilion
- Renovation of the limestone trail through the Old Forest
- Reimagination of Rainbow Lake Playground
- Installation of a new bike and pedestrian entrance plaza and sculpture on East Parkway
- Installation of wayfinding signage in the park and trail markers in the Old Forest
- Installation of three welcome gateways at the entrances to the Old Forest
- Improvements to park entrances to make them safer and more welcoming
- Ongoing removal and monitoring of invasive plants in the Old Forest
- Renovation of the park’s historic nine-hole golf course
- Investment in a permanent end to Greensward parking that will return acreage to the Old Forest
- Completion of a comprehensive plan for the park’s future
- The launch of year-round, nature-based community programming
