Nature 101
Ever wondered what flower is blooming next to the trail? Curious about the lizards that bask in the sun or the colorful fungi that grow on the logs? Join Overton Park Conservancy staff and volunteers in Nature 101 walks!
Nature 101 Walks are guided group walks in the Old Forest in Overton Park to help beginners identify the wildlife and plants living in the heart of Memphis. Each walk is focused on a particular group of organisms, with groups departing hourly from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. (See each day’s schedule for details.)
Come be curious with us!
The April 26th Nature 101 is the City Nature Challenge Edition! You and your guides will be documenting what you see using iNaturalist. This fun and free app will help boost your learning as well as record the amazing wildlife we have in Memphis for scientists to use now and in the future.
Registration opens here April 12
Where did the bird group go? We now lead regular bird walks! Check out Songbird Strolls!

Overton Park Conservancy is the nonprofit organization that has been caring for Memphis’s central green space since 2012. With the generous support of our community, we work each day to make the park a beautiful and welcoming place for all Memphians, as well as a valuable source of urban habitat for wildlife.
The Conservancy must raise roughly 85% of our budget each year from people like you who care about the many things Overton Park has to offer. A gift of any amount helps us maintain and improve the park.
