SUMMARY:City Nature Challenge: BioBlitz at Overton Park
DESCRIPTION:Join the City Nature Challenge\, a worldwide movement to document wild nature and help fight biodiversity loss! \n\n\n\nOverton Park Conservancy staff will lead us on an exploratory BioBlitz in Overton Park\, where every photo you upload to iNaturalist becomes a data point that helps scientists understand and protect wildlife. We’ll record wildlife such as plants\, insects\, fungi\, reptiles\, birds\, and mammals.  \n\n\n\nLast year\, our community contributed close to 2.7K observations! Together\, we can build an even stronger picture of nature in Memphis. No experience with iNaturalist necessary – all ages welcome.  \n\n\n\nThis program will be held on natural surface trails\, limestone trails\, and/or pavement surfaces. Accessible (paved) routes available.  \n\n\n\nRegistration opens 2 weeks in advance.  \n\n\n\n\nRegister here!

DESCRIPTION:Nerd Alert!\n\n\n\nDo you like spending time outside and getting to know the wild plants\, fungi\, and animals around you? Do you drive your friends nuts telling them what everything is? Is iNaturalist on the first page of your phone homescreen? We need your help!  \n\n\n\nShelby County is once again participating in the City Nature Challenge between April 24 and 27. During this international urban BioBlitz\, community members all over the world will upload documentation of local wildlife on iNaturalist. Any iNat observations within Shelby County during those days will be counted towards our Memphis-Shelby County project. \n\n\n\nWe need amateurs and professionals to help identify our local wildlife on the platform after those four days of intensive recording: last year we had nearly 2.7K observations!  \n\n\n\nJoin us at Overton Park for an ID party! We’ll bring the pizza\, you bring the knowledge (and smartphone or laptop).  \n\n\n\n\nRegister here!
