SUMMARY:Third Thursday Treks
DESCRIPTION:Join Conservancy staff on a walk while we discuss a specific ecological concept for the month. Walks scheduled for the third Thursday of each month in the spring and fall. \n\n\n\nWho Runs the World? Squirrels!\n\n\n\nThey’re here\, they’re there\, they’re everywhere! But did you know this wasn’t always the case?  \n\n\n\nIn this month’s Third Thursday Trek\, we’ll explore the history of urban squirrels and how they became one of the most beloved (infamous?) city slickers. By the end of our time\, you’ll decide: public pet or public pest? \n\n\n\nThis program will be held on natural and pavement surfaces.   \n\n\n\nThis event is pay-what-you-can\, with a suggested contribution of $5 per person.   \n\n\n\nRegister here. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nTrek surfaces may include paved road\, limestone gravel trail\, and Old Forest natural trails with uneven surfaces. \n\n\n\nQuestions? Send us an email  \n\n\n\nSee our cancellation policy. \n\n\n\nOverton Park Conservancy is the nonprofit organization that has been caring for Memphis’s central green space since 2012. With the generous support of our community\, we work each day to make the park a beautiful and welcoming place for all Memphians\, as well as a valuable source of urban habitat for wildlife. \n\n\n\nThe Conservancy must raise roughly 85% of our budget each year from people like you who care about the many things Overton Park has to offer. A gift of any amount helps us maintain and improve the park.
