Step into the glow of Golden Hour—a free, open-air celebration of art, music, and Memphis summer magic in the Summer Art Garden at Memphis Brooks Museum of Art. Sip, mingle, create, and unwind as the sun sets, with food and drinks available for purchase, a collage party hosted by Like Really Creative, and exclusive perks for members, including a complimentary MEMPOPS voucher for a frozen treat. Whether you’re here to dance, discover, or simply bask in the vibe, this is your invitation to kick off the season in style.
The evening unfolds around A Flash of Sun, a radiant new installation by Memphis-based artist and designer Khara Woods. Known for her bold geometric forms and textile-inspired motifs, Woods transforms the garden with sun-drenched hues, cast acrylic sculptures, and rhythmic patterns that respond to the changing light. Inspired by Paul Laurence Dunbar’s 1903 poem Summer in the South, the installation captures the spirit of the season in color, movement, and poetic beauty.
Event Highlights:
Collage party hosted by Like Really Creative – Collage alongside a creative community as you listen to curated jams, flip through vintage magazines, really cool old books and ephemera, cut, glue, and make your masterpiece. Materials provided.
