Art History 101: Romanticism and Realism: Early to Mid-19th-Century Art
October 24 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm
This talk will focus on the Salon system of artist exhibitions throughout the early half of the nineteenth century. On the walls of such institutions as the Royal Academy in London and the Paris Salon, rival artistic movements would vie for attention with very distinct sets of subjects matter: literary and fantasy worlds as represented by artists of the Romantic movement, and the prosaic world of everyday people as represented by the Realists.
